Details! About our Organization!
Sustainable. Equitable. Dynamic. Real Freedom is a public service non-profit, real estate based organization looking to rebuild underserved communities. Real Freedom’s goal is to create sustainable communities of color around the world with platforms that focus on: real estate, business, financial literacy and re-entry. Real Freedom is determined to guide marginalized communities and groups through their plans and resources that build sustainable communities. There are specific issues Real Freedom tries to address in these marginalized communities.
Real Freedom has a long history of standing in the way of developers looking to enter marginalized communities to improve the area for visitors. Also, working with local politicians to improve support systems for community members in cities across the globe and land areas hardest hit, making sure they have a voice and get access to services they need. Similarly, Real Freedom has a history of educating the community on issues that impact funding in neighborhoods and access to services a swell as understanding the process to receive services.
The issues that are addressed include, but are not limited to, housing disparities, mental health issues, and recidivism rates of formerly incarcerated community members. Mental health issues and housing disparities in marginalized communities are among the problems that Real Freedom opted to identify and address. Furthermore, it aimed to address recidivism and a pathway to independence for recently incarcerated individuals and most importantly putting injured/fractured families back together.
Real Freedom was created to address the issues marginalized communities face. The question we wanted to answer as an organization is: how do you serve the public? By working with the community, leaders in these areas, and policymakers, we are able to give a voice to individuals that are being underserved and undervalued. We have recognized that cities across the globe need the services we provide in order to live more sustainable lives. Community members can receive many forms of help or guidance from our staff and organization. Whether it is from job training or mental health support, Real Freedom are here to help.
Real Freedom has a Young Author’s Program because it recognizes the need for better literacy in marginalized communities. The program partners with schools in the communities recognized and gives the students a part of the school voices they would have difficulty sharing otherwise. Within the program, there is a writing contest that allows students to submit short stories and some will be selected by the organization to be published. The criteria for choosing winning stories is in its initial development processes and the number of stories we accept will depend on quarterly funding, interest, and support. Besides the short story opportunity, we facilitate scholarship programs for students for school, sports and other extra-curricular activities. This is conducted with park district and city officials.
Real Freedom has adult programs as well that focus on grant writing. These programs hosted by staff will guide adults on how to write statements for grants. This program is for new staff to help them build their writing skills and give them the opportunity to help achieve the goals of the program. Real Freedom also has a re-entry program for adults where formally incarcerated individuals can seek financial literacy, education, and mental health guidance. We try to provide what they might not find in their communities to help them re-integrate into society.
Additionally, we have the Volunteer Movers Program. This job training program provides individuals in tough financial situation an opportunity to work for Real Freedom’s moving company. The program has a series of trainings that will guide members to construction related jobs after the program is complete. The participants will provide resources to communities we partner with and help expand our services to different areas.
We hope to further establish our organization in the upcoming years so that we can serve more and more communities and touch more and more lives. Real Freedom has several goals that we are hoping to reach in the next ten years. Within 5 years, we seek to expand into more global communities and become more financially strong to fund our initiatives. Within 10 years, we hope to be well established in the United States and communities beyond our borders with strong public service allies that believe in our mission.
Too often people in power take advantage of marginalized community as seen in the South and Midwest, but we see the inequality and are willing to do put our resources to good use. By going abroad, we can solidify our work and make our organization stronger. Real Freedom wants to be an organization that other non-profits will seek guidance from. Real Freedom looks to be a beacon of hope, improvement and empowerment for individuals who are constantly facing the difficulties of their marginalized communities.
There are many important individuals driving our mission and goals each day. Our Board members Clent, Marvin, and Antonio in conjunction with our staff members Dank, Shontaye, and Freedom fighters are the faces behind Real Freedom. We thank them for supporting marginalized communities that are clearly in crisis.
Note that Real Freedom is taking financial and property donations. In order to be successful and reach as many people as we can, we do need assistance in fundraising. Additionally, any property donations will allow us to create safe, affordable places for individuals in marginalized communities. Donations will directly impact individuals who face the everyday issues that are found in their communities.
By donating, you will see the fruits of your generosity much sooner. We look for partnerships and consulting to manage our cost versus having a large staff equivalent to a mid-size business with 10k plus employees. Which makes it more difficult to make the change we look to make in a 10-year period. More information on how to donate is on the donation page.
Real Freedom is here to fight the daily crises that individuals face in marginalized communities and we hope to count on your support to make these areas equitable, dynamic, and sustainable. Future generations depend on the change that will occur for the better in these communities. Please follow us on our social media pages for updates on the organization and take a look at our website for more information.
